Synchronic

Synchronic

For all the sci-fi fans out there, Synchronic is something you should definitely try. It's slow-paced at the beginning but it build up the plot and gets more exciting. It's a movie that revolves around time and the possibility of going back in time, it didn't really show the future here.  The atmosphere in the movie is a little depressing for me but if you're fine with that, go ahead.

Synchronic is about a middle aged EMT officer. Recently, they have been called to lot of weird cases where people die, or is in the brink of death. The only thing that is connecting the cases is a packet of medicine called synchronic. But all of that was nothing when he found out that he was dying. One day, his best friend's daughter went missing and the only thing he found was synchronic. When he went to buy some, it just so happened that the chemist who made the drug was also there. Can you guess what happened next?

Soul

Soul

Disney and Pixar brings us another animated movie that caters to the young and the old. Joe is a middle aged man who really likes jazz. He treats jazz as his purpose and nothing in his life is more important. Just as he got a gig to play with one of his favorite jazz players, he fell into a hole and died. But that's not going to stop Joe from attending his performance. He tried everything he could to get back to his body. Along the way, he met an unborn soul and together they find out what "purpose" is supposed to mean.

Soul is great movie to inspire children to do what they love to do in life. It will also inspire middle aged people to live their life to the fullest and let go of their obsessions and live life to the fullest. It's humorous and emotional. In my opinion, a wide range of audiences will enjoy this movie.

Grave of the Fireflies

Demise of the Impeccable

Japan has always been the place I've wanted to visit the most. I wanted to see the great sceneries, ice sculptures, the Universal Studios, Ghibli Museum, the shrines and the high buildings in Tokyo. But did you know that Japan also had a time when it was devastated? Today's movie is  about the heartbreaking story of two siblings struggling to survive during World War II in Japan. It showcases the difficulty of being a child, losing parents, and witnessing destruction and horrendous scenes. How would you, as a child, move forward if you lost the pillar supporting you?

"Grave of the Fireflies" is a Ghibli movie that really gets to the heart of people. It makes one want to ask "Why do nations engage in war?" There might me a lot of different answers: Maybe it's to defend one's nation, or to conquer new territories but we'll never really know. (Well, maybe someone knows but as a commoner, it's hard to say) I can't say much about the movie because I might just tell everyone the story but it's really good, like ⭐⭐⭐⭐ .8 good. The 0.2 there is for almost making me almost lose my cool. 😂

Space Sweepers Review

Space Sweepers

We are half way through the week! How are you guys? I hope everyone is doing okay. Our movie for today is the recently released "Space Sweepers". I saw the trailer online, looked it up and found out that it actually debuted as number 1 in its category in Netflix so I went ahead and watched it.

As a movie, I'm not really sure who the main character is. Instead of saying that there is only one main character, it's more similar to plots having a group of friends wading through the hard times. It did give the characters a background but those are more of a side story.

Space Sweepers is focused on a group of misfits in the junk collector ship called Victory who found a child in the cabin of a scrapped space shuttle (if I'm not mistaken how that was called). UTS at the time, the company governing the whole human population, released an alert that "Dorothy" is missing. Dorothy is a humanoid robot that can cause mass destruction. The child the misfits found is none other than Dorothy.

Space Sweepers gives a lot of lessons. The effects are great and I think the actors' acting is great it's just that it's not immersive enough for me. I get that they try to compress a lot of things into an hour and half but I think that some scenes would have had a greater impact if it was given enough time. I'm not really sure how they would do that, but that's how I feel. Maybe they could've cut the movie in two? Therefore, I'll only give it ⭐⭐⭐

By the way, above is a scene I found funny so I included it in the review. If you guys watched the movie, let me know what you think by commenting below. 😁

Over the Moon Review

Over the Moon

Weekend is here! Can you guess what movie I'm reviewing from the picture above? It's "Over the Moon"! Another story about getting over the death of a loved one. It's not that I'm getting over something that's why I chose this movie. It's purely coincidental because I wanted to watch animated or cartoon movies. Anyway, on to the review.

Over the Moon showcased a lot of Chinese traditions and a legend. Fei Fei, our main character, wanted to to her dad that love can last forever. Actually, it's more like she just wanted her dad to love her mom even after her mom's death. Her dad shouldn't look for other people to "replace" her mom. When she looked at the moon, she remembered "The Legend of Chang'e and Huoyi" which was her mom's favorite. Therefore, she was inspired to build a rocket in order to reach the moon and prove that Chang'e and Huoyi's love lasts forever. To her surprise, things are not what she believed them to be. As she embarks on an adventure to the moon, she meets a lot of people (well, it's actually more of cute creatures) that helped her realize some things. Those things not only helped her but also helped other people she met.

Honestly, "Over the Moon" is full of cuteness. Just look at the picture above, isn't "Bungee" (the rabbit) so cute? Whether you agree or not, I think she's cute. Another thing that the move is full of is singing. It's so "musical" that they sing in every 15 minutes. The thing is that the songs are incorporated with the scenes in the movie so well that sometimes, you want to sing along with them as well. It also has a little humor and it's touching to some degree. Overall, it's really a good movie. I'll give it ⭐⭐⭐⭐.

I really enjoyed the movie that I got a lot of screenshots but I had to choose a few because if I did post it all, I'm afraid they'll sue me for copyright infringement. 😂

Abominable Review

Abominable Review

Yesterday night, I watched this movie mainly because I saw a cute fluffy thing and the trailer is really exciting. I thought it would be about the "yeti", how he/she found friends and their travel around China. Unfortunately, it wasn't.

The movie revolves around the girl named Ee (if I'm not mistaken), who lives in her own world because she hasn't gotten over her dad's death. Then the "yeti" took her, literally, and her friends, to explore China. Their travel helped unravel the girl's knot and they helped the "yeti" return to the Himalayas.

It's very similar to "Okja" where a rare animal is being exploited, it had the chance to run away, meet human friends and evade the pursuit of those who want to exploit them. If I were to choose between the two, I'd still prefer Abominable. Abominable has a mystical, magical background and is "lighter" than Okja.

It's still is a good movie but it's not what I expected it to be. Therefore, I'll give it three stars. ⭐⭐⭐
