Svaha: The Sixth Finger

Intriguing and a little Muddled

One of the few movies I've seen about religion that made me curious about what other religions (aside from what I believe in) entails. The movie is focused more on a part of Buddhism that is not usually seen. It shows people's obsessions and delusions. It also shows how people's faith can be shaken by unfortunate events. You might be wondering whether  or not the movie featured creepy things. Yes, the movie contains creepy things from the very beginning, for example the photo below.

What is the movie all about? Well, it's a little hard to say.  In essence, it's not just one story; it's three (or four depending on how you see it) stories unfolding at the same time. The first one is about a village girl whose twin sister is believed to be a demon. The second one is about a Christian priest who investigates cults in Korea and reports them to the higher ups (they have an organization for religious groups) once he obtains evidence that that certain cult is going to cause a disaster. The third one is centered around the investigation about the death of young girls with a talisman and red beans tying them together. This part does not have that much exposure. The fourth one was about two men, one of which committed suicide, who thinks they are carrying out a holy mission.

The four storylines in the movie made me think that it is confusing as I'm not really sure who or what they are focusing on. It's intriguing how they combined the religions in the movie, though it's a little weird. ⭐⭐⭐
